In the year 2050, in the aftermath of great social upheavals, the luxury boats of this world have been transformed. Small floating cities have been built out of them – often in combination with several ships. These then take on different tasks in the overall network of the yacht city. There are, for example, residential boats (as in the the illustration), a greenhouse cargo ship, a library boat with a workshop space, an algae farm and much more.

The cities are as self-sufficient as possible, save their water and generate the little electricity they need through wind and solar power. All resources come from the old world or were acquired in exchange with the coastal communities. The boats (as well as the rest of the community) are self-governed. They are designed to be as climate resilient as possible. Important decisions are made jointly and everyone contributes their skills and interests to the community.
